Measurements

We learnt the SI units for important physical quantities like length, mass and time. We also found out the instruments used to measure certain quantities and how accurate they were (decimal points). We also learnt to convert quantities from one unit to another similar unit. For this particular topic, I really hated memorising (again) the formulas for things like density etc. The SI units were not so tricky to remember, but I just had to know that for mass there was a "kilo" in front. I felt that this topic was rather dry as everything was done in numbers. Our teacher went through the set of notes very clearly, but I really hope that there is more to learning science than just this. Perhaps we could be allowed to create our own experiments and draw the set-up for it, record the results and let the teacher mark it to see if we had understood the concepts correctly.
